The Opportunity

Join the Thiess team and contribute to the efficient operation, maintenance, and servicing of the Coal Handling Preparation Plant (CHPP) at our Lake Vermont Mine near Dysart.

 

We are currently seeking dedicated individuals for various roles, including CHPP Operators, CHPP Maintenance Fitters, CHPP Maintenance Electricians, and CHPP Boilermakers. Key Responsibilities for All Roles:

  • CHPP Electrical Operator/Maintainers: Operate and maintain all areas of the CHPP, ensuring safety and operational efficiency.
  • CHPP Maintenance Fitters: Perform servicing, repair, and maintenance of fixed plant equipment, including general maintenance, breakdowns, services, and component changeouts.
  • CHPP Maintenance Electricians: Maintain electrical systems within the CHPP, ensuring they adhere to production and maintenance schedules while optimizing efficiency and safety.
  • CHPP Boilermakers: Provide technical support, deliver high-quality maintenance solutions, and collaborate with the site team to maximize plant availability and performance.
  • Conduct scheduled inspections to ensure optimal equipment utilization.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain high housekeeping standards.
  • Work in challenging environments such as confined spaces and at heights.

 

Qualifications Required for Each Role (Current Standard 11 required for all roles):

  • CHPP Electrical Operator/Maintainer:
    • Previous or current experience in a CHPP environment.
    • Current QLD Electrical Licence.
    • Low Voltage Rescue certification.
  • CHPP Maintenance Fitters:
    • Trade qualification in mechanical fitting or equivalent.
    • Proven experience maintaining fixed plant equipment.
    • High commitment to safety and maintenance practices.
  • CHPP Maintenance Electricians:
    • Current QLD Electrical Licence.
    • Low Voltage Rescue certification.
    • Current EEHA and HV competencies (highly regarded).
    • Previous experience in the fixed plant environment.
  • CHPP Boilermakers:
    • Trade Certificate in Engineering Fabrication or equivalent.
    • Experience working at heights, in confined spaces, and in CHPP maintenance is preferred.
    • Proven compliance with health and safety standards.
