About the role

We’re looking for a skilled and safety-focused Light Vehicle Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team on site. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the servicing, diagnostics, and repairs of a range of light vehicles used across our mining operations. You'll play a key part in keeping our fleet running safely and efficiently, contributing to the overall success of our site.

This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced environment where your mechanical expertise and commitment to quality work will be highly valued. Whether you’re inspecting vehicles, replacing worn components, or responding to breakdowns, your attention to detail and dedication to safety will help keep our operations moving.

In this role, you will

  • Perform the servicing, repair and maintenance of mobile fleet and other equipment in accordance with Thiess servicing, lubrication, and maintenance systems documentation. 
  • Completing general maintenance, breakdowns, services, and component change outs to a high standard.  
  • Source technical information from the relevant available reference manuals, technical bulletins, OEM, and computer-based systems. 
  • Ensure good housekeeping standards are always maintained. 
  • Provide technical information to staff and operations personnel. 
  • Conduct technical inspections and job estimations. 

About you

  • Automotive Trade (Light Vehicle Mechanical) or relevant equivalent 
  • Current Standard 11
  • Current Open Driver’s license
  • Post-trade experience working in the Mining or Heavy Earth Moving industry. 
  • Experience in Vehicle Air Conditioning systems desired 
  • Experience in general maintenance, breakdowns, component change outs and servicing of light vehicles 
  • You will also need to always possess a high regard for and practice health and safety.
  • Have a good work ethic and commitment to continuous improvement, be able to work as an individual within the maintenance team, be able to think ahead & lead with initiative.
