NAB Ventures is the investment fund established in late 2015 to further enhance NAB’s innovation capabilities. NAB Ventures is the venture capital arm of the National Australia Bank, a global initiative supporting entrepreneurs in Australia and offshore in their quest to build leading technology companies. We invest in enterprises that can leverage the bank’s expertise, assets and market position to drive growth in portfolio companies.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established and active fund in Australia. We are looking for someone who is passionate about the startup ecosystem and looking to build a career in VC investing.

  • NAB is investing in positive change.
  • You’re encouraged to grow your skills and capability to maximise your value.
  • With the appropriate support, there’s opportunity to work on complex transactions and solve interesting problems.

In this role, you will:

  • Identifying attractive investment opportunities.
  • Initiating and maintaining relationships with entrepreneurs.
  • Conducting market product and financial due diligence.
  • Financial analysis and returns modelling.
  • Participating in the deal closing process.
  • Interacting with other venture investors, advisors, and colleagues at NAB.
  • Developing investment insights into areas of interest to the fund.
  • Undertaking various work related to supporting existing portfolio companies.
  • Collaborating with the team in all areas, but with a particular emphasis on providing financial analysis and due diligence support related to closing investment opportunities.
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Building relationships with business leaders and an understanding of the industry, market & competitor trends.

What you'll bring:

  • Prior work experience ideally at a venture capital fund, investment bank or consulting firm. Those with operating experience in business development, sales, product management or financial analyst roles will also be considered.
  • Excellent quantitative analysis and financial modelling skills.
  • Stakeholder management, relationship building, and strong communication skills with a proven track record engaging with and collaborating with the team, wider bank stakeholders and business sponsors, in addition to partners and at times other third parties.
  • Ability to think on your feet and to communicate up and down business streams (both verbally and in writing).
  • Demonstrable ability to build financial models and perform quantitative analysis necessary to assess unit economics and financial soundness.
  • An established industry network within the Melbourne/Sydney venture capital and entrepreneurial community.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, for example Business, Economics or Engineering.
  • Passion to work within a highly energetic and dynamic team.

By joining NAB, you are committing to putting our customers’ needs first every time. You will be ambitious for growth; always curious and learning from colleagues. You will speak honestly, always valuing the time and opinion of others. You will own your work, doing what’s right, even when it’s hard.
