The Role

We currently require an experienced Water and Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator to join our team on Rottnest Island. Live on role if required, with a fully furnished house provided to the right candidate.

Reporting to the Compliance & Utilities Manager, the Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator will work within the utilities team to maintain the Desalination and Waste Water Treatment plant, and repair any plant issues that occur.

The suitable applicant is required to use appropriate procedures and specifications and ensure activities are carried out to a satisfactory and timely manner. Specific projects may also be carried out as required.

Key responsibilities

• Waste water treatment process experience
• Bio waste management experience
• Sampling & analysis recording & reporting
• Contractor management
• SCADA operation
• Gas Testing
• PLC experience
• Sewer pump station & pipe network experience
• Plant housekeeping experience

Skills and experience

• Chlorine handing skills
• Trade background in plumbing, electrical or mechanical highly regarded
• MR license
• Forklift license
• Confined Space ticket
• Working at heights
• CPR and LVR
• First aid
• Certificate 3 in water industry treatment

The Waste Water Treatment plant is a package plant operation that would suit anyone with remote, rural or mine sit experience. It would be highly desirable for the suitable applicant to additionally have an operational knowledge of a desalination plant or utility plumbing experience.
