As a Design Engineer in the Analytics and Design Services (ADS) team, you’ll lead the design and delivery of complex warehouse and automation solutions that enhance operational efficiency and future-proof our network.

Reporting to the Warehouse Solutions and Automation Manager, you will partner with business units, project teams, and external suppliers to develop scalable, safe, and sustainable warehousing designs. Your expertise will influence strategic investment decisions and operational improvements across Linfox.

This role is open to candidates located in Essendon (VIC), or Oakdale (NSW).

Other duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead design and evaluation of warehouse and automation solutions aligned to business needs.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in warehouse layout, materials handling, and automation technologies.
  • Analyse storage, throughput, and handling efficiency to guide design decisions.
  • Identify and assess emerging technologies to enhance performance.
  • Collaborate across commercial, operations, IT, and property teams for practical, scalable solutions.
  • Support business development activities including RFPs and project delivery.
  • Champion Linfox’s Vision Zero safety strategy throughout design and delivery processes.

Are you the one?

We’re seeking a strategic, solutions-focused engineer with strong technical and commercial acumen. You’ll have proven experience in warehouse design and automation, with the ability to influence stakeholders and deliver high-impact projects.

The ideal candidate can demonstrate:

  • Experience in warehouse and automation project design and delivery.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering, logistics, or a related field.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Familiarity with project management frameworks such as PRINCE2.
