About the role:

This position exists to provide a safe, efficient, and customer focused operation by leading staff at the relevant locations and managing relevant systems.

Reporting to the Regional Operations Manager successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Sustaining a safety culture based on values and principles by achieving and implementing all safety standards, systems and initiatives to a standard of excellence.
  • Achieving the agreed level of DIFOT and ensure on-time running to meet the customers’ expectations and relevant contractual KPIs.
  • Developing and monitor the financial budgets for the businesses, ensuring costs are controlled and revenue maximised.
  • Managing asset utilisation to maximise the financial results of the business increasing labour productivity across the business.
  • Maximising sales and general freight opportunities and capitalise on growth opportunities.
  • Liaising and collaborate with other relevant teams to achieve business objectives and optimise resources available.
  • Directing and manage the allocation, utilisation and deployment of resources to meet all operational and customer needs.
  • Providing frontline leadership to employees through the involvement and management of employees throughout the employment life cycle.
  • Developing methods for the safe resolution of non-routine problems by the combination of known procedures.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the business.

About you:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in working in a logistics environment.
  • Previous line leadership experience in large scale logistics or heavy industrial organisation.
  • Experience with SAP is preferred.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate with diverse work groups.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to communicate cross functionally.
  • Capacity to understand the people issues and how the issues impact the business.
  • Ample computer skills and use of operational systems.
  • Demonstrated experience of leading a team.
  • Extensive knowledge of operations, preferably of road and rail industry.
  • Sound knowledge of road coordination and terminal operations.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to optimise business processes.
