About the Role:
Aurizon’s presence in South Australia is expanding, and we’re looking for a proactive and safety-focused Contracts Management Specialist to oversee contractor performance across operational activities. This role plays a key part in shaping safe, efficient and customer-aligned contractor relationships, while driving performance, compliance and service excellence.
You’ll be responsible for managing contractor performance across a designated operational area, maintaining strong working relationships with internal teams and service providers. This includes monitoring contract delivery, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and supporting long-term contract outcomes through effective communication, reporting and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and championing a safety-first culture across all contractor operations
- Establishing strong working relationships with internal teams, contractors and providers
- Monitoring contractor performance, compliance and delivery against agreed KPIs
- Supporting contractor safety and operational learning through site presence and communication
- Managing contract scope, cost, and variations, ensuring obligations are understood and met
- Maintaining accurate reporting and contributing to long-term contract effectiveness
- Assisting with the setup and transition of new, extended or restructured contracts
About You:
You’re a confident communicator with a keen eye for operational detail and the ability to influence and build trust with contractors and stakeholders alike. You thrive in dynamic environments and are committed to maintaining safety, performance and compliance.
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:
- Experience in contractor supervision or contract management (preferred)
- Background in logistics, transport or heavy industry
- Strong understanding of safety leadership principles and practices
- Commercial acumen and analytical skills to assess performance and manage variations
- Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills
- A current open ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence, and comfortable with regular travel between operational sites
- This role may be suitable for a FIFO arrangement from Adelaide, or a DIDO arrangement from Whyalla or Port Augusta, subject to operational requirements
