About the role:

Aurizon is seeking a qualified Mechanical Tradesperson (Maintainer Mechanical) to join our Hexham maintenance depot. In this critical role, you will maintain and service our locomotive fleet supporting Hunter Valley operations within a well-organised and efficient workshop environment.

Working a rotating roster across day, afternoon, and night shifts within a 24/7 operation, you will gain valuable experience maintaining advanced locomotive equipment while benefiting from a supportive work-life balance.

You will be responsible for:

• Performing complex troubleshooting, fault rectification duties, repairs, modifications, and preventative maintenance procedures on rollingstock.
• Utilising and inputting accurate data into information and maintenance management systems.
• Assisting with the implementation and development of quality improvement in the area to enhance customer service
• Conduct provisioning of rollingstock
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with WH&S requirements
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with technical and operational specifications
• Maintain records and other documentation relating to asset condition, maintenance program and costing systems
• Implement new work procedures in pursuit of continuous improvement

About you: 

• A strong commitment to safety and the “I Know Safe, I choose Safe” principal.
• Must hold a Mechanical Trade Certificate.
• Candidates from heavy industry maintenance background highly regarded.
• High level skill in trouble shooting, fault rectification & preventative maintenance of rollingstock.
• Adequate level of skill in interpreting technical instructions and drawings
• Sound computer literacy.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work 24/7 roster
