Join Aurizon – Australia’s largest rail freight operator and an ASX100 listed company – in a leadership role within Group Finance.

About the role:

Aurizon is seeking an accomplished senior finance professional to lead its Group Financial Reporting team. This is a rare opportunity in Brisbane to step into a senior technical accounting role within a large ASX-listed corporate environment. You will oversee the preparation of Aurizon’s statutory financial reports, manage Group accounting policies, and provide specialist advice on complex accounting issues, including treasury financial accounting.

This role offers exposure to a broad range of technical challenges, commercial activities, and stakeholder interactions – making it an ideal next step for a Senior Manager or Director from a Big 4 environment who wants to transition into a corporate role at scale.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the preparation and delivery of Aurizon’s statutory financial reports.
  • Drive compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and ASX requirements.
  • Oversee Group accounting policies and provide technical guidance across the business.
  • Manage the treasury financial accounting function.
  • Partner with business units to resolve complex accounting and reporting matters.
  • Support continuous improvement in financial reporting processes, systems, and controls.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • CPA or CA qualification.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Business.
  • Experience at Senior Manager or Director level within a Big 4 accounting firm, or in a senior reporting/technical accounting role at an ASX-listed large corporate.
  • Deep knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and IFRS.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

What we offer you:

At Aurizon, we support the development and growth of our employees. With a national portfolio of operations, we offer long-term and exciting career opportunities.

Some of our benefits include:
