The Opportunity

The ARC Centre of Excellence in Future Low-Energy Electronics Technologies (FLEET) is an international innovator in novel electronics technologies. The centre brings together more than 40 world-leading experts who will apply cutting edge science to develop a new generation of ultra-low power electronic devices.

We are seeking an exemplary Research Fellow to join our FLEET team to conduct research in theoretical condensed matter physics, studying model systems in ultracold atomic gases that target different aspects of non-equilibrium phenomena.

You will be expected to publish papers in high-impact journals, present results at major conferences and workshops, and to assist in the supervision of PhD and honours students in the centre. The appointment will be made at a level appropriate to your qualifications, experience and in accordance with classification standards for each level.

To be successful in this role, you will have a degree in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics, or related fields in Theoretical Physics. Our ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to produce presentations and refereed research papers and reports.

FLEET values equity and diversity and promotes an inclusive workplace culture for staff irrespective of their gender identity, ethnicity, or cultural background. We recognise that diversity drives excellence and innovation in research and teaching and a key objective is to lift the proportion of women among academic staff. Monash University is a member of the Athena SWAN charter, which is designed to enhance gender equality in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine (STEMM) disciplines.

As a special measure under Section 12 (1) of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic), we strongly encourage applications from suitably qualified female candidates.

In addition to Monash University's attractive remuneration and benefits, the department and faculty provide generous research support, including: early career mentoring; funded PhD scholarships; grant-writing support; access to seed-funding grants, including interdisciplinary research opportunities; and support for innovation in education and curriculum design.

If you are driven by new developments in atomic and optical physics, want to perform high impact research and build the future of electronics, we encourage you to apply.
