The Potential

The Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences is the largest faculty at Monash University, and offers a comprehensive suite of professional health training in Victoria. We consistently rank in the top 40 universities worldwide for clinical, pre-clinical and health sciences.

Monash Nursing and Midwifery is one of the largest schools for the education of nurses and midwives in Australia and offers courses at two Monash campuses – Clayton and Peninsula. The school comprises approximately 2000 students undertaking undergraduate and postgraduate courses utilising a range of delivery modes. Monash Nursing and Midwifery offers high quality tertiary degrees in a vibrant and supportive learning environment to prepare students for a rewarding nursing career. Our research optimises quality of care and outcomes for health service users and health care professionals. The Opportunity

Monash Nursing and Midwifery is seeking a suitably qualified and motivated Indigenous academic and leader to join our world-class School to deliver and guide education within our programs. The role also encompasses leadership, specifically with a clear focus on indigenous matters and content for the school. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work in partnership with the Gukwonderuk Indigenous Health Unit and collaborate with a vibrant and exciting team of Indigenous academics and graduate researchers.

Successful applicants will ideally have postgraduate qualifications consistent with the level of appointment. For the Professor and Associate Professor positions a doctoral qualification in the discipline area would be expected. For the Senior Lecturer position a doctoral qualification is preferable however, candidates with a master’s degree in Indigenous health are encouraged to apply. The applicant will have current Australian registration for practice as a nurse / midwife or need to be eligible to apply.

This role is a fixed-term full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated. The successful applicant will be appointed at either Level C, Level D or Level E depending on their qualifications and level of experience.
