The Opportunity

We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow at Level A with an accomplished ability and a goal of becoming a high achieving and productive researcher to contribute to the "Smarter Hospitals" research project. This project, funded by a National Health and Medical Health Council Partnership Grant and administered through Macquarie University, involves several hospitals, including Northern Health. It aims to explore smarter hospital integration of virtual care models in the Australian healthcare system. These models, utilizing telephone, video-conferencing and remote-monitoring, aim to enhance access, efficiency and outcomes while reducing costs. They offer opportunities to improve patient experiences, especially for those with chronic conditions, in hospital outpatient settings. The project addresses infrastructure barriers in healthcare facility design, aiming to create efficiencies and improve access to services while addressing systemic inequities.

This position will encompass conducting research under limited supervision, contributing to conference papers and publications and engaging in survey research activities such as interviews and data analysis. Additionally, you'll undertake limited administrative functions directly related to your research domain, including documentation preparation and literature reviews.

The position requires an honours degree or higher qualifications in the relevant discipline and/or progress towards a doctorate in the relevant discipline or equivalent qualifications or research experience, highlighting your commitment to research excellence and professional development.

If you possess analytical prowess, experience in survey research methodologies and familiarity and experience with the Australian healthcare system, we encourage you to apply. Your skills in manuscript preparation, interaction with healthcare professionals and patients, and understanding of change management methods will be invaluable assets. Join us in unlocking the promise of smarter hospitals and making a tangible impact on healthcare innovation.
