The Opportunity
The Office of the General Counsel is the central office within the University to deal with legal issues. We provide comprehensive legal advice and services to senior management and staff on matters that relate to the University’s governance and its diverse educational, research and commercial endeavours.
We currently have an opportunity for an Associate Lawyer to join the Research and Education team within the Office of the General Counsel for a 12 month period.
You will play an important part in coordinating and administering the delivery of a high quality program of legal services including: drafting documentation, contracts and agreements, reviewing legal documents for accuracy and completeness & managing the approval requirements of legal documents according to University statutes and delegations.
The initial team you will be supporting is the Research & Education team. Areas of work within this legal stream include major research projects, clinical trials, student and staff engagement, and intellectual property matters.
The Associate Lawyer will report directly to the Director - Legal Services, Research and Education and will be responsible for:
- Coordinating and administering the delivery of a high quality program of legal services
- Providing expert and authoritative advice and guidance to clients
- Undertaking research, analysing results, investigating options and providing recommended solutions to complex administrative procedures
- Contribution to operational planning by sharing knowledge and expertise
About you
As the successful candidate, you will have completed a Law Degree, have a current practising certificate and have demonstrated legal experience with a track record of providing high quality legal services.
