The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Level B Research Fellow to join our dynamic team focused on an impactful project aimed at improving the ear, hearing, and mental health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. As a Research Fellow, you will play a pivotal role in delivering an innovative, application-based platform that provides intuitive and accessible digital solutions to enhance learning experiences and support mental health tailored to the unique needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.
In this research-only position, you will be responsible for conducting independent and/or team-based research within the relevant field, as well as developing your research expertise further. You will also lead the dissemination of the project's findings through peer-reviewed publications, conferences, and collaborative meetings with colleagues.

Key Responsibilities of a Level B Researcher will include;

Conduct research relating to development, co-design and implementation of a digital solution for ear and hearing health, including post-implementation analysis and evaluation of the technology.

Assist in the development, and be responsible for the day-to-day running, of research studies with child and adult participants.

Development and administration of surveys to educators, clinicians and users of the technology.

Assist in the preparation of research findings for publication in peer-reviewed journals, and present research findings at suitable local, national and international forums.

Engage in appropriate confidentiality of research activity and procedures.

Comply with relevant university and hospital Human Research Ethics.

Contribute knowledge, experience and skills to other Ear Science Institute Australia, Monash University and Curtin University researchers.

Coordinate, lead and contribute to Soundsmiles team meetings and activities.

Attendance at meetings associated with research or the work of the organisational unit to which the research is connected and/or at departmental, school and/or faculty meetings and/or membership of a limited number of committees.

Guidance in the research effort of junior members of research-only Academic staff in their research area.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and knowledge:

A doctoral qualification in Psychology, Education, Health Promotion, Digital Health, Information Technology.

Demonstrated experience or a strong understanding of developing digital health solutions.

A track-record in conducting high quality research, including the ability to carry out data collection, statistical analysis and scientific writing.

Excellent abilities in problem solving, record keeping, data presentation and working in a team environment.

Experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods (e.g. focus groups, semi-structured interview) and associated analysis.

Publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, set priorities, and multitask.

Ability and commitment to work collaboratively within a team including across functional areas (e.g. Software developers, clinicians/primary health carers).

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to exhibit empathy, in particular sensitivity to the unique culture, diversity and safety of Indigenous communities in rural and remote areas.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Competency in a range of computing skills including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, internet and email.

Awareness of ethical and confidentiality requirements.
