Education-Focused Opportunity in the School of Languages, Literature, Cultures and Linguistics

The School of Languages, Literatures, Cultures and Linguistics is one of the largest and most dynamic Schools within the Faculty of Arts. Our members are engaged in cutting-edge research across a wide array of disciplines, including European and Asian languages, literary and cultural studies, linguistics and applied linguistics, history, social sciences, and translation and intercultural studies. We offer comprehensive programs at undergraduate, honours, and postgraduate levels, providing a rich and diverse curriculum in languages and cultures.

We are now seeking an academic passionate about teaching and education to join our team in the role of Lecturer (Education-Focused) in Intercultural Studies.

In this role, you will design, deliver, and evaluate a variety of teaching activities across the School's portfolio of undergraduate and graduate coursework units in Intercultural Studies and Global Studies in ways that actively engage students and effectively achieve learning outcomes. You demonstrate a student-centred approach, engaging students effectively and fostering flexible, inclusive learning environments. By utilising a mix of teaching and learning technologies, you will innovate teaching practices and design diversified, valid assessments.

Additionally, you will lead unit and course development, participate in team teaching, and manage relevant administrative tasks. You will systematically collect and respond to student feedback to continuously improve teaching practices. Your role will also involve generating scholarly activity and research outputs that reflect an advanced understanding of educational practice in your field.

About You

You are an inspiring educator with a proven ability to teach effectively, motivating and engaging students to achieve their best. With a strong background in teaching and assessment within a tertiary environment, you bring a wealth of experience and a passion for education. Your expertise in curriculum development, particularly within higher education, ensures that your teaching methods are both innovative and effective.

In addition to your teaching prowess, you are actively involved in scholarly activities and research that inform and enhance your educational practices. Those with an interdisciplinary background in Intercultural and Global Studies (which may include the disciplines of cultural studies, literary studies, gender studies, cultural geography, history, anthropology, urban studies, race and ethnicity studies, amongst others), with a language specialism that sits within our portfolio of European and Asian languages, and who have demonstrated excellence in teaching delivery and innovative educational techniques, are strongly encouraged to apply. We are particularly interested in candidates whose experience incorporates decolonial practice.
