The Opportunity
As the Senior Academic Director, Learning and Teaching, you’ll be at the heart of educational innovation, driving excellence across the University. This is your opportunity to provide visionary academic leadership, guiding strategic education initiatives that elevate the student academic experience and shaping world-class professional development programs within the Monash Education Academy to support teaching and learning. You’ll be overseeing teams that enhance learning and teaching, and ensure that quality assurance mechanisms are leveraged to create meaningful improvements.
In this pivotal role, you’ll work closely with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education) to lead the implementation and delivery of key programs. You will foster partnerships across the portfolio, with faculties, campuses, and academic and professional staff both within and beyond the University. Your expertise in education, coupled with a strong track record in educational leadership, will empower you to advance education practices and drive impact that fuels an inspiring education for students across Monash University. This is a position for a forward-thinking leader who thrives on shaping strategy and fostering academic excellence.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Proven expertise in educational leadership, with an international reputation for driving improvements in student learning outcomes and academic excellence
- Extensive experience in leading strategic education projects, developing frameworks for evaluation, and shaping institutional learning and teaching priorities
- Strong ability to mentor and lead high performing teams to deliver excellence in professional development, education development and education technologies
- Deep expertise in digital learning, ensuring a relevant, strategically aligned suite of digital learning products and platforms are widely adopted and used effectively
- Commitment to advancing the scholarship of teaching and learning, career pathways for educators and policy development
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, enabling strong and constructive partnerships across faculties, campuses, and external education communities
