The Opportunity
The Monash Genomics and Bioinformatics Platform (MGBP), a cornerstone of the Monash Technology Research Platforms group, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Technical Officer to join its Genomics Node. In this pivotal role, you will be at the heart of cutting-edge genomics research, delivering high-quality sequencing and technical services. With your solid theoretical and hands-on expertise, you’ll manage the end-to-end technical workflow — from sample handling and throughput coordination to ensuring compliance with the Platform Quality Management System (PQMS).
As a Senior Technical Officer, you’ll take responsibility for performing and overseeing liquid handling procedures, maintaining and operating genome analysers, sequencers, and other specialised laboratory equipment. Your attention to detail and deep understanding of laboratory processes will be key to supporting complex genomics projects. You will also play a critical role in fostering a safe and compliant work environment by ensuring adherence to operational protocols, equipment maintenance schedules, and safety guidelines.
This highly collaborative role supports both research and commercial projects, providing expert guidance to researchers, students, clients, and staff. Clear communication and teamwork are key to delivering high-quality outcomes. Reporting to the Genomics Node Manager, you'll help shape genomic services at Monash within a dynamic, innovative research community.
