The Opportunity
Join our finance team as an Assets Accountant and help deliver high-quality asset and financial accounting services. In this position, you’ll ensure the integrity of asset balances, contribute to month-end and year-end processes, provide expert technical accounting advice, and play an important role in improvement initiatives across our finance function.
This position will contribute to the critical asset and financial accounting functions of the University. This will include supporting the University’s month-end and year-end close-off procedures and maintaining the integrity of the SAP Asset and Lease Registers. You will also be involved in preparing the annual financial statements of the University. You will work across departments to provide timely financial analysis, technical accounting advice, and compliance reporting for internal and external stakeholders. In addition, you’ll support financial projects, ensure alignment with Australian Accounting Standards, and help enhance systems and processes, while fostering strong relationships across the Monash finance network to enable efficient and effective service delivery.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A degree in accounting or business, along with CA/CPA accreditation
- Experience and knowledge in accounting and financial reporting
- Strong working knowledge of SAP (or similar systems), particularly in asset management modules
- Solid understanding of relevant legislation and accounting standards
- Analytical mindset, attention to detail, and ability to manage priorities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
