The Opportunity

The Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture is seeking to appoint a Lecturer (Level B) or Senior Lecturer (Level C) in the Department of Design to contribute to the advancement of contemporary design practice through teaching and research. The position will specialise in Industrial Design , playing a key role in progressing innovative, translational research within the Design Research Labs and fostering impactful design outcomes across academic, industry, and community contexts.

As the Lecturer/Senior Lecturer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching through lectures, seminars, studios, and workshops, while also contributing to curriculum development and undergraduate course coordination. You will supervise postgraduate students, lead or participate in research projects, and engage in relevant professional activities. The role also includes involvement in assessment, student consultation, and academic administration within the department and broader faculty.

As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate a strong record of teaching in a tertiary environment, including curriculum development, course coordination, and the ability to actively engage and motivate students. You will have the skills and knowledge required to navigate the digital transformation of design practice. You will have a proven commitment to research activities, with experience in design scholarship and practice, reflected through a publication record in high-quality refereed journals or book chapters; and/or high-quality non-traditional research outputs. You will also bring experience in postgraduate supervision, securing external research funding, and contributing to research leadership, along with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across academic and professional contexts.
