The Opportunity

The Professional Practice Consultant is responsible for advancing the professional experience component of the Master of Counselling by fostering student readiness for placement and enhancing the quality of professional practice engagement. This position plays a key role in supporting students and sustaining meaningful partnerships with placement providers across local and offshore locations, including Hong Kong and Singapore.

The role provides comprehensive management of key placement partnerships, supporting the Faculty’s placement requirements and assisting in securing new opportunities. You will orient partner sites and supervisors to ensure effective student supervision, deliver pre-placement workshops to prepare students, and respond promptly to any concerns. Additionally, you will monitor placement quality, manage reporting and grading processes, maintain accurate records, and collaborate with academic staff to strengthen partnerships and support program development.

As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to foster relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders. You will effectively navigate complex placement challenges, manage competing priorities, and work efficiently under pressure. A solid background in supervising professional practice, thorough knowledge of counselling standards, excellent communication abilities, and proficiency with relevant technologies are essential. Analytical skills to interpret policies and provide clear guidance will also be key.
