Remuneration: $118,974 - $141,283 pa Level B (plus 17% employer superannuation) / $145,740 - $168,049 pa Level C (plus 17% employer superannuation)

Within the School, the Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Research Centre (ANZIC-RC) is a world-leading methods centre driving large-scale clinical research in critical care. From sepsis and traumatic brain injury to mechanical ventilation and ECMO, ANZIC-RC’s work has shaped intensive care medicine across Australia, New Zealand, and beyond.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an accomplished and motivated Senior Research Fellow (Health Economics) Level B/Level C  on to join the ANZIC-RC and contribute to the advancement of health economics in critical care research. Working closely with the Health Economics Program Lead, you will lead and support economic evaluations alongside clinical trials, including adaptive platform trials and novel trial designs, while analysing linked datasets to assess healthcare resource use following critical illness.

You will play a key role in developing and modelling economic evaluations related to intensive care interventions, collaborating with multidisciplinary researchers and clinicians, and supporting high-quality publications and competitive funding applications. This is a unique opportunity to influence real-world health and economic outcomes across critical care and health systems nationally and internationally.

Key responsibilities include

  • Designing and conducting economic evaluations alongside major clinical trials and registry analyses.
  • Leading and contributing to research publications, grant proposals, and conference presentations.
  • Collaborating with clinical investigators, biostatisticians, and health economists to ensure robust study design and analysis.
  • Supervising and mentoring research staff and students in health economics and related disciplines.
  • Enhancing the national and international reputation of ANZIC-RC through high-impact research and stakeholder engagement.

About You

You are an innovative researcher with a doctoral qualification in health economics or a related field, coupled with demonstrated research excellence and leadership potential. You thrive in collaborative, interdisciplinary environments and are passionate about translating evidence into policy and practice.

Experience in intensive care, sepsis, or life-threatening infection research will be highly regarded.
