We are looking for a skilled and motivated Budgeting and Reporting Accountant who enjoys partnering with leaders, shaping financial insights and supporting meaningful outcomes in a complex health and research environment. You will bring strong analytical capability, experience with budgeting and forecasting, excellent attention to detail and the confidence to work alongside senior stakeholders to provide clear, trusted advice.

This role suits someone who enjoys problem solving, financial modelling, scenario planning and identifying improvements to financial systems and processes, someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and takes pride in delivering high quality work that genuinely supports business performance and strategic decision making.

The Opportunity

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and reporting services

  • Prepare annual operating budgets and financial projections

  • Provide financial advice and insights to senior academic and professional leaders

  • Monitor financial performance and identify risks and emerging issues

  • Support strategic planning and scenario modelling

  • Identify opportunities to strengthen processes, systems and financial capability

  • Contribute to confident and informed financial decision making in a fast paced, high impact environment

You will work closely with colleagues within the faculty finance team and across the Sub-Faculty of Translational Medicine and Public Health based at the Alfred, supporting programs that make a real difference to healthcare and community outcomes.

About You

You will have:

  • Degree qualifications in finance or related field, CA or CPA, or equivalent experience

  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis in a complex environment

  • Advanced analytical, modelling and Excel skills

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to partner with a broad stakeholder group

  • Proven ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and work independently

  • Strong systems experience and a continuous improvement mindset
