The Opportunity
Monash University is seeking a Project Manager to play a central role in the delivery of the MRFF funded PANTHER Trial (Precision medicine Adaptive Network Platform Trial in Hypoxemic acute respiratory failure) Australia. PANTHER is, a highly innovative, global clinical study that aims to transform treatment for acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).
ARDS affects up to 10 percent of mechanically ventilated patients in intensive care and carries high mortality and long-term disability. Despite decades of research, effective pharmacological therapies remain limited. The PANTHER Trial will address this gap by establishing the world’s first phase 2, precision medicine, Bayesian adaptive platform trial in hypoxaemic acute respiratory failure, accelerating the development of targeted treatments for ARDS.
Based within the Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Research Centre (ANZIC-RC) at the Monash School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, this role offers a rare opportunity to coordinate a complex, multi-site clinical trial involving approximately 15 Australian hospitals, delivered in federation with the PANTHER UK trial and under shared international oversight.
As Project Manager, you will support the end-to-end delivery of this nationally significant study, working closely with leading clinicians, investigators, hospital sites and international collaborators to ensure the trial is delivered to time, quality and governance expectations.
About the Team
ANZIC-RC is a major clinical research methods centre for intensive care in Australia and New Zealand, based at the Alfred Hospital campus. The centre designs and delivers large, multi-centre clinical trials across critical care, including sepsis, traumatic brain injury, ventilation, ECMO, nutrition and patient blood management. ANZIC-RC works at the intersection of clinical excellence, methodological rigour and real-world impact.
What You Will Do:
• Lead the coordination and delivery of a complex, national clinical research project from initiation through to implementation
• Support trial governance, ethics, regulatory compliance and reporting requirements
• Coordinate data capture processes, protocols, logistics and site support activities
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with investigators, hospital sites and research partners
• Monitor project risks, timelines and milestones and implement mitigation strategies
• Contribute to high-quality documentation, reporting and stakeholder communications
• Work collaboratively within ANZIC-RC to support operational excellence and shared objectives
What You Will Bring
You will bring postgraduate qualifications or extensive experience in project management within a research, health or complex organisational setting. You have a strong track record delivering medium to large-scale projects, excellent organisational and communication skills, and the ability to coordinate diverse stakeholders in high-pressure environments.
Experience in clinical research, particularly intensive care or regulated research environments, will be highly regarded, as will familiarity with research governance and ethical frameworks. You are proactive, solutions-focused and motivated by work that delivers meaningful impact for patients and health systems.
