The Opportunity

Are you an experienced commercial and property lawyer looking to make a meaningful impact in the higher education sector? This is an opportunity to join a high‑performing Commercial & Property legal team and contribute to major initiatives that shape the future of a globally recognised university.

The Commercial & Property stream plays a critical role in supporting the University’s infrastructure and operations, from major property and construction projects to significant business and IT procurement activities. As a Senior Lawyer, you will work on challenging matters while building strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across the University.

As a Senior Lawyer, you will play a key role in the Office of the General Counsel (OGC), providing high‑quality, timely and practical legal advice across a diverse range of commercial, property and university‑related matters (including but not limited to lease/ licences, construction, capital works, major services/facility maintenance, commercial contracts, major procurement and other commercial arrangements supporting the University’s operations). Working with a high degree of autonomy, you will support senior leaders and collaborate with colleagues across multiple legal streams to deliver strategic, solutions‑focused outcomes.

About You

You are a qualified legal practitioner with at least five years’ post-admission experience and a strong background in property and commercial contracts work. Experience in the higher education sector is highly regarded, as is your ability to thrive in a complex and fast-paced environment where priorities shift and no two days look the same.

You bring strong technical and commercial judgement, a proactive approach and the confidence to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team culture. You understand the importance of delivering exceptional service to internal clients and building trusted, respectful relationships across the organisation. Your excellent communication and written skills along with your strong stakeholder management skills will see you succeed in this role.
