The Opportunity
Monash University is seeking an Accounting Officer to provide high-quality research finance business partnering and operational support. In this role, you will deliver accurate financial transactions, complex reporting and forecasting while ensuring strict compliance with grant conditions, tax and audit requirements. Acting as a trusted advisor, you will proactively engage with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues, manage contractual milestones and leverage data analysis to drive continuous improvement in our research and revenue accounting practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare complex reports, forecasts and contract budgets while tracking project progress.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Proactively advise internal clients on financial positions, grant conditions and resolve complex enquiries.
- Compliance & Acquittals: Coordinate financial acquittals for external funding bodies in strict accordance with tax, audit and governance rules.
- Data & Systems Management: Monitor contractual milestones, investigate discrepancies and utilise University systems for data analysis and continuous process improvement.
What you will bring to the team
- Qualifications/experience in finance with proficiency in SAP (or similar) and GST applications.
- Strong data analysis, numerical and problem-solving skills to resolve financial issues.
- High-level communication and negotiation skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent administrative and organisational skills to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Proven ability to work both collaboratively in a team and independently with initiative.
