-

The Opportunity
At Monash, we know that true capability isn't built in a classroom alone. This role is not about traditional training delivery - it’s about driving behavioural change, fostering a growth-oriented culture, and architecting an ecosystem focused on continuous development.
Operating within our Talent, Reward and Mobility (TRM) team, you will act as a strategic integrator across a large, federated environment. Capability is developed through the contributions of multiple teams and portfolios across the University, each bringing their own expertise and perspectives. Your role is to architect the human element - partnering across these groups to ensure capability initiatives are connected, people-centred and drive meaningful change.
This is an opportunity to shape the future, not simply maintain the status quo. Working across the University, you will help advance our approach to enterprise capability by bringing greater alignment, clarity and strategic focus. You will translate organisational priorities into practical capability initiatives, build strong partnerships across portfolios, and influence how capability is developed, embedded and sustained across the University.
What You'll Be Driving
Reporting to the Associate Director, Capability and Performance, and leading a specialist team of Learning Solution Architects and a Designer, you will:
-
Shape the Ecosystem: Co-design and steward a University‑wide learning ecosystem that connects formal learning, workplace development, and capability‑building initiatives.
-
Shift Mindsets & Behaviours: Build enterprise capability frameworks that define the skills, behaviours, and knowledge required for current and future workforce needs.
-
Consult & Co-Design: Partner closely with academic, research, and professional leaders to diagnose root-cause capability gaps and shape solutions that address how people actually work and learn.
-
Lead through Influence: Influence decisions and drive cohesive enterprise solutions across a highly matrixed, distributed environment.
What You'll Bring
-
Strategic Capability Expertise: Demonstrated experience shaping and aligning learning or capability strategies in large, complex, matrixed environments. You understand that true learning is about behavioural shifts, not just transactional course completions.
-
Ecosystem Thinking: Proven ability to connect diverse contributors to deliver aligned capability outcomes, establishing frameworks and governance that ensure quality across distributed teams.
-
Advanced Consulting & Influence: Exceptional stakeholder management skills with the ability to diagnose underlying capability needs, build alignment, and drive outcomes across large groups.
-
Contemporary Design Knowledge: A strong understanding of modern learning frameworks (e.g., the 4E model, experiential learning) and the digital technologies that support enterprise-wide scaling.
-
Leadership: A track record of leading, coaching, and developing specialist teams to foster innovation and high performance.
-
Data-Driven Approach: Proven ability to use workforce data, learning analytics, and insights to inform strategy, manage learning demand, and evaluate ecosystem-wide impact.
-
Qualifications: Relevant tertiary qualifications in Learning, Human Resources, Organisational Development, or a related discipline.
