The Opportunity
A Network Engineer position is available in the Infrastructure Services (Networks) team within eSolutions to assist with the support and day-to-day operation of the network and the delivery of various network-related projects.
The Engineer will join a team of engineers and consultants to maintain operations and develop new services for the Monash network. The team is responsible for the day-to-day support of a very large infrastructure fleet of network switches, routers, and wireless access points, and your skills will ensure service availability and adherence to agreed service targets, policies, and processes within eSolutions.

Along with your experience in large enterprise networks, you will have worked with:

Enterprise-grade switching and routing (Cisco Catalyst and Nexus) platforms

Large-scale wireless deployments (Cisco 9800 IOSXE / 9xxxx APs)

Basic data centre networking (Cisco Nexus)
-
Network security technology (Palo Alto FW, GP VPN, Cisco ACL, ISE)
Experience with the following would be considered an advantage:

Cisco ACI, Nexus 7000/9000
-
Cloud environment networking (AWS, Azure)
-
Citrix NetScaler
-
BIND DNS
-
Scripting and automation toolsets – Python, Ansible

Cisco CCNA/CCNP, a relevant tertiary qualification, or equivalent experience is required.

The Networks team within eSolutions is responsible for the design, deployment, and operation across all facets of the Monash network, including campus LAN and WAN, data centre and cloud, wireless, and internet services. The Networks team works closely with other technology specialist groups in order to deliver solutions and services for the University.
The position requires regular rostered 24/7 on-call duty and other operational activities outside of normal working hours, both remotely and onsite.
