We are MMG and we mine for progress

Rosebery is an underground polymetallic base metal mine located in the township of Rosebery in Tasmania, Australia. The mine is a deep, sub-level open stoping operation with complex mining conditions.

The Rosebery Mine has been at the heart of the Rosebery community since 1936 and is one of Tasmania’s largest and oldest continuously operating, underground mines producing zinc, copper and lead concentrates, as well as gold doré.

It supports approximately 500 employees and their families, has a strong community focus and engages a wide range of local businesses from across Tasmania in its supply chain boosting the economy of the West Coast of Tasmania and beyond.

The mine has a strong future, with extensive exploration activities which have continued to grow the resource and require mine planning beyond 10 years of continued operation.

MMG Rosebery has an office in Burnie (Tasmania), giving employees the flexibility to work from there when they are not required onsite.

Document Writer - Casual 

Reporting to the Manager – Mine Operations, the purpose of this role is to clearly define the requirements and review in order to update our underground work instructions and bring them to a consistent standard.

Candidates must reside in Rosebery or surrounding areas and preference is for this position to work a 5:2 roster.

This role is offered on a casual basis and preference will be given to local candidates as relocation is not provided for this position.

Key Accountabilities (however not limited to)

  • Identify and understand what is described within the relevant Work Instruction
  • Spend time underground with the various tasks to understand where gaps may be in the work instructions talking to operators, understanding the hazards involved, taking photos of key steps in the process
  • Review and modify the initial work instruction to ensure the task description is consistent and the steps described make sense from a sequential perspective.
  • Update the document to include photos that be able to write clear steps in the process to increase understanding of what needs to happen and how it must happen safely.
  • Ensure there are standardised sections in the documents and that the new branding is applied to all documents
  • Hold review meetings with various members to verify that the described tasks are accurate and there are no additional steps to be included
  • Modify and upload the document into the library for formal review and sign off prior to distribution for re-training.

Qualifications Skills and Competencies;

  • Minimum of 3-5 years in an administrative role ideally within mining, construction or the industrial sectors.
  • Comfortable with an Underground environment and going Underground on a regular basis
  • High level of verbal and written communications, organisational and personal skills 
  • Able to analyse, observe and problem solve whilst working autonomously 
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships
  • Be adept at Microsoft Word and other Office Suite of products
  • Ability to pass a Pre Employment Medical, Fitness and Drug and Alcohol testing
  • An unwavering commitment to safe work practices with demonstrate safe behaviour at all times and comply with the site’s standards and procedures.
  • Valid Drivers Licence
