Drug and Alcohol Services South Australia is a statewide health service that offers a range of treatment services for people with alcohol, tobacco and other drug issues.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Manager Clinical Support Services as the Senior Policy Officer you will be responsible for leading, developing, implementing and evaluating information release operations ensuring DASSA meets legislative requirements. Provide high level policy and procedural advice to DASSA executive and Senior Management.

Duties for this role include:

  • Apply a high level of knowledge and understanding of legislative obligation and compliance processes.
  • Provision of strategic and expert advice on alcohol and other drug policy to the Manager Clinical Support Services and senior DASSA staff
  • Processing Freedom of Information (FOI) and privacy applications and ensuring DASSA meets its legislative compliance
  • Processing sensitive FOI applications – political and media requests
  • Provide advice to executive and staff on FOI policy, ensuring systems are in place that optimise and support services
  • Management of Internal and External reviews
  • Responsibility for Coroner's Office Directions, Subpoena’s and Warrants and SAPOL requests for information.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with a range of State, Commonwealth and Local Government agencies and relevant Non-Government and Community organisations.

  • Determine priorities, set objectives, organise own workload and work often with tight deadlines
  • Communicate, consult and negotiate effectively, both verbally and in writing, at a range of levels and with a diverse range of organisations.
