It is the responsibility of the Area Clinical Team Leader to ensure Team members deliver quality patient care through the provision of effective and efficient management of operational, clinical, people and WHS issues. Manage and be responsible for a designated operations team ensuring that the community’s needs and requirements are met by the effective delivery of services. Provide leadership to an operating team of the Emergency Ambulance Service and ensure all clinical standards are achieved in a professional manner and within SAAS clinical governance framework and Patient Care Protocols.

Key Responsibilities: 

Clinical Knowledge/Support and Development:
- Maintain ICP (Intensive Care Paramedic) scope of practice and demonstrate clinical leadership
- Ensure team compliance with clinical policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Improve clinical practice through training, education, and evidence-based learning
- Facilitate clinical feedback and auditing of team members
- Mentor and support team members in developing patient-centric attitudes and practices

Team Leadership:
- Assist in managing human, financial, and capital resources effectively
- Promote strategic focus and align team direction with SAAS strategic plan
- Contribute to the Metropolitan Management Team
- Support staff in achieving personal goals and maximizing their potential
- Resolve conflicts within a supportive framework

Operational Management:
- Monitor team progress in meeting SAAS performance standards
- Maintain a safe working environment and ensure staff competency
- Implement SAAS Performance Management program and staff development plans
- Ensure compliance with legislative requirements and SAAS policies
- Manage portfolios/projects, systems, and processes for continuous improvement

Stakeholder Engagement:
- Assist in encouraging stakeholder input and feedback
- Ensure stakeholder feedback is acknowledged and actioned as required

Occupational Health, Safety, and Welfare:
- Undertake effective WHS supervision and ensure compliance with SAAS WHS management system
- Disseminate OHS&W information and provide relevant training to staff
- Facilitate consultative processes regarding WHS issues between management and staff

Risk Management:
- Identify, evaluate, and recommend corrective actions for hazards
- Investigate hazards and incidents, maintain documentation, and oversee corrective actions
- Assist in developing WHS procedures for risk management specific to the work area
- Ensure the provision and maintenance of safety systems and PPE
