About the position
Placement Partnering and Operations is a dynamic and fast-paced environment supporting more than 10,000 students to undertake a work-based learning experience each year as well as managing the administration of agreements for more than 18,000 placements per annum.
The Senior Placement Officer is allocated an individual portfolio of responsibility for which they undertake this work and respond to student and partner inquiries related to placements, providing high quality professional advice and customer service, and consistently demonstrating La Trobe’s cultural values.
When operating within a multi-disciplinary team, the Senior Placement Officer is allocated a higher level of responsibility by serving as the primary contact for a notably large or complex discipline and acting as a reference point to provide guidance to Placement Officers supporting the team's other disciplines.
Duties may include but are not limited to:
- Oversee the recording and reporting of placement offers, processes, and manage the accuracy of data inputs for student placements in accordance with university guidelines and PPO procedures;
- Liaise, communicate, and build relationships within La Trobe as well as with external bodies; act as the main point of contact for students, staff and placement agencies, dealing with enquiries and providing guidance and support;
- Adhering to established protocols and when necessary, interpreting and selecting the suitable course(s) of action; assess, handle, and monitor placement requests, assign students, and engage with diverse stakeholders, guaranteeing the prompt and accurate dissemination of information concerning student placements;
- Accurately record data in internal and external systems within required timelines and assist in monitoring the workflow and accuracy of the team’s work;
- Monitor and maintain records/reports to meet both internal and external requirements, communicating and resolving identified issues and risks, and escalating where required;
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this position, you will have
- Completion of a degree without subsequent relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Demonstrated capacity to organise work effectively and efficiently and deliver outputs in a timely manner;
- High level proficiency in computer software packages including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, electronic mail, and the use of the internet as a research tool;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated customer service focus and solution orientated approach;
- Demonstrated experience managing the activities of self, and/or others including coaching, motivation, and performance management.
