About the position

A Level B academic with a teaching-focussed appointment will work independently, without the need for close supervision. They are expected to contribute to curriculum development, coordinate subjects, deliver high-quality teaching, and support student learning and engagement. Teaching-focussed academics also contribute to the administrative functions of their discipline and undertake scholarly work related to learning and teaching within their field or profession. Their scholarship is expected to inform and enhance teaching practice and student outcomes.

They must demonstrate teaching excellence in alignment with La Trobe University's Teaching Excellence Principles, and maintain a strong record of teaching performance. This should be evidenced through Student Feedback on Teaching (SFT) surveys, peer reviews, and other recognised measures of teaching quality. Lecturers are expected to teach and coordinate assigned subjects, working collaboratively with course coordinators and discipline leads to ensure a cohesive and high-quality student experience.

 

 Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have

  • HDR (or near completion) or equivalent accreditation and standing recognised by the University/profession as appropriate for the relevant discipline areas: completion of a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education, or similar qualification/training, would be an advantage.
  • Discipline expertise (theoretical and practical) in clinical classification utilising the International Classification of Diseases and Health Related Problems, Tenth Revision, Australian Modification (ICD-10-AM) and at least one of the other health information management knowledge domains: health informatics, health data analysis and management of health information systems and associated staff, including professional practice.  Proven experience in clinical coding education and clinical coding auditing are highly desired.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, curriculum development and subject coordination in face-to-face, blended and/or online modes, as evidenced by sustained high results on student feedback on teaching surveys, teaching excellence awards or through other forms of evidence.
  • Demonstrated competence in teaching and curriculum development.
