About the position
Are you a strategic systems leader ready to influence the future of HR technologies at a large, dynamic university? La Trobe University is seeking a Senior Manager, People Systems to lead a high-performing team and ensure the effective operation, development and evolution of our core People & Culture systems.
This pivotal role sits within the People & Culture division, with a dotted-line connection to the Information Services division for technical collaboration. You will lead a team of analysts, oversee system performance and work closely with stakeholders across P&C, IS, and external vendors to drive continuous improvement, compliance and innovation in our people systems and processes.
Duties at this level:
- Provide leadership across a portfolio of core HR systems, including SAP Payroll, SuccessFactors, PageUp, Litmos, Workforce Software and CultureAmp.
- Influence the evolution of P&C systems to support operational efficiency, compliance and user experience.
- Lead system upgrades, enhancements and digital transformation initiatives in partnership with vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Resolve complex technical issues and ensure robust data integrity, user access management and performance monitoring.
- Drive process automation, reporting capability and data quality improvements to support decision-making across the university.
- Collaborate closely with the Senior Manager, Payroll to ensure seamless integration between systems and payroll operations.
- Provide high-level input into university-wide planning, policy and system development, with a focus on people data and analytics.
- Mentor and grow the capability of a skilled team of analysts, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Skills and knowledge:
- Proven experience leading complex HRIS environments across both operational and strategic domains.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise people systems, ideally including SAP, SuccessFactors, PageUp and related platforms.
- A track record of driving system enhancements, upgrades and policy improvements in a large or complex organisation.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and vendor management skills.
- A collaborative leadership style with the ability to develop high-performing teams.
- A strong understanding of compliance, data governance and legislative requirements within the people systems context.
