About the position
We’re seeking a dynamic Senior Manager, Student Advising Programs to lead a high-performing team delivering inbound and outbound student advising services, including Accessibility, international, accommodation and scholarship advising. This role is pivotal in aligning advising operations with the University's strategic goals, ensuring exceptional service that enhances student outcomes and experience.
Working closely with Pro Vice-Chancellor Student Experience and Employability (PVCSEE) leadership and key stakeholders, the Senior Manager will lead efforts to align the strategic goals and activities of the Student Advising team with those of the University, as well as contributing to the strategic goals of the Student Advising team more broadly. This includes delivering exceptional service that supports students, their outcomes and their experience.
Duties at this level:
- Drive innovation and service improvement by collaborating across the DVCA portfolio, Schools and University partners to map referral pathways and ensure students receive timely, seamless support.
- Lead strategic planning and stakeholder engagement to deliver integrated student advising services, programs and operations with a focus on continuous enhancement.
- Develop targeted training for Student Advising and Customer Care teams to support international and AccessAbility registered students, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
- Provide leadership and advocacy in managing complex student cases, including critical incidents, through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Skills and knowledge:
- Led sector leading student support services using omni-channel technologies to enhance experience and employability outcomes.
- Applied deep expertise in student services within the tertiary education sector.
- Delivered innovative, strategic solutions that improved student outcomes and organisational performance.
- Demonstrated strong leadership through negotiation, influence, motivation and relationship-building.
- Managed significant budgets and resources with sound financial oversight.
- Embedded compliance and capability aligned with key legislation (e.g., HESF, ESOS, Disability Standards) across student services.
