About the position

The Senior Assurance (FOI/Privacy) and Compliance Advisor provides high-quality, practical compliance advice to stakeholders across the university, contributes to policy development and review activities, and assists the Senior Manager in fulfilling the responsibilities of the University Privacy and FOI Officer.

Working collaboratively across the University, the successful candidate will ensure freedom of information requests are managed in accordance with legislative requirements and provide timely, accurate advice on privacy compliance matters, including responding to enquiries and undertaking privacy impact assessments. The role also supports the effective operation of the University’s Regulatory Compliance Framework, coordinates the annual compliance attestation process, monitors policy review cycles, and contributes to fostering a strong culture of compliance through stakeholder engagement, education and continuous improvement.

 

Skills and Experience

  • To be considered for this position, you will have A degree with substantial relevant experience or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.
  • At least 3 years demonstrated experience in the interpretation and application of either Freedom of Information or privacy legislation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of the practical application of regulatory compliance requirements, compliance assessments or audits, methodologies and work processes, preferably in a tertiary education and/or highly regulated setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide well-informed, strategic advice, work independently, and achieve objectives while operating within complex organisational structures.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing reports and recommendations for action on compliance issues to executives, senior management committees and governance bodies
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including ability to negotiate, motivate, influence and build relationships.
