About the Role

We’re seeking a privacy lawyer who thrives in a fast-paced, innovative environment. As Senior Legal Counsel responsible for privacy and data, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping how we manage and safeguard personal information across Tabcorp.

Reporting to the General Counsel & Privacy Officer (who in turn reports to the Chief Legal Officer), and with the support of the wider Legal Team, you’ll advise on complex privacy, data, cyber, and responsible AI matters across Tabcorp. This is a unique opportunity to be both Tabcorp’s principal privacy legal advisor and to manage Tabcorp’s Privacy Risk & Compliance Program.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide expert, strategic, solutions-oriented legal advice on privacy, data, cyber and Responsible AI matters across Tabcorp.
  • Lead, advise on or supervise privacy-heavy aspects of critical contract negotiations and act as a key escalation point for the Legal Team.
  • Advise on privacy law reform and assist in translating regulatory changes into business-ready solutions.
  • Drive privacy maturity assessments and further operationalise Tabcorp’s Privacy Management Plan.
  • Carry out Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and recommend effective controls.
  • Draft, maintain, and deliver privacy, data, cyber and Responsible AI related policies, procedures, plans and training programs.
  • Manage privacy inquiries, data access requests and complaints.
  • Support incident response efforts for data breaches, including regulator engagement.

About You

You’re a strategic thinker with a passion for privacy and a talent for turning complex legal requirements into practical, business-aligned solutions. With privacy expertise and outstanding stakeholder engagement skills, you’ll also bring:

  • A law degree and current legal practising certificate in VIC, NSW or QLD.
  • At least 5 years’ demonstrated experience in both privacy legal advisory and privacy risk & compliance management, ideally gained in both in-house and private practice roles.
  • Expertise in privacy and data protection, ideally within a heavily regulated sector.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to influence and educate across all levels of the business.
