The Commercial Finance Manager partners with key business leaders and operational management from Boral’s VIC & SA Asphalt business. This is a key role focused on improving decision support and providing a commercial focus to drive outstanding financial and commercial results. This includes developing the financial literacy within the business, driving business performance including supporting Boral's Continuous and Value Improvement Programs, providing independent financial perspectives to senior leaders, and supporting customer and general commercial arrangements (pricing, credit, risk, dispute resolution, contracts). This role extends to ensuring that capital expenditure business cases are appropriately developed and that investment decisions meet company hurdles.

Your day will involve:

• Partner with General Manager Asphalt VIC & SA and their team to deliver strategy alignment across the business to successfully execute strategy
• Use financial targets benchmarks, models and performance metrics to drive strategic decision making and performance
• Makes a constant improvement to short and medium-term business performance by recommending authoritative financial, technical, operational and commercial solutions
• Leverage financial perspective to improve risk awareness, strategic decision making and integrated performance management
• Provide sound commercial and analytical support to operations to deliver profitable and sustainable growth including determining cost effectiveness of growth strategies and ensuring approved capital investment decisions deliver on benefits
• Strong input into the preparation and delivery of operating budgets and forecasts) in accordance with Group requirements with strong support of central resources
• Partners with relevant General Manager, Operations and Sales Managers in their review of project profitability and performance.
• Ownership of month-end process and result close & analysis. Work with Asphalt Finance team to deliver monthly reported result and to ensure that financial results are materially correct
• Lead preparation of key management reports
• Provide timely & accurate in month P&L outlooks and Capex Forecast
• Work with National Asphalt Finance team to optimise VIC & SA working capital
• Lead weekly Profit Delivery Plan meetings and drive implementation of initiatives across VIC & SA
• Implement reporting and control frameworks, provide input into audit, governance, risk and compliance.

What are we looking for?

• Commercially focused and experienced finance professional, ideally with prior exposure to partnering with operational stakeholders.
• Bachelor degree (or higher) in Commerce, Business, Finance or Economics, with CA/CPA qualifications preferred
• Wide and deep experience providing expert advice on financial outcomes pertaining to operations in large and complex industrial or manufacturing businesses
• Demonstrated ability to deliver improvement in performance through provision of financial leadership and insight
• Proven commitment and track record in achieving strong financial, investment and performance results
• Experience of planning, managing and organizing resources within short /medium timescales within the overall policy framework.
