Based in the North Ryde Head Office, the Tax Manager is an integral member of the Boral tax function with responsibility for managing tax compliance and reporting across Boral, contributing to strong tax governance and risk management and ensuring the organisation meets all statutory tax obligations. The Tax Manager is a trusted business partner, working closely with the broader commercial, legal and operational teams, as well as the ultimate parent entity (SGH Limited) to support strategic commercial decision-making.

Key responsibilities:

• Manage direct and indirect tax compliance for all Boral Group entities across income tax, GST, and employment taxes.
• Prepare disclosures for Country-by-Country Reporting (CbCR), Pillar 2 and other Tax Transparency reporting for inclusion in parent entity reports.
• Prepare tax effect accounting calculations, ensuring correct reporting and assisting with external audit reviews.
• Assist with ATO and other revenue authority reviews.  
• Advise business units on commercial transactions and business agreements, support M&A projects and other restructures. 
• Promote tax awareness across the business through training and active collaboration, coach and develop team members.
• Embed tax governance through robust documentation and monitoring and maintenance of internal controls.    
• Lead innovation and continuous improvement initiatives, including the use of technology solutions to streamline/enhance workflows.

What we are looking for:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in tax, preferably in a similar industry
• Strong working knowledge of Australian corporate income tax, GST and FBT
• Proficiency in Tax Effect Accounting
• Advanced Excel skills
• Experience with income tax software (e.g. CCH Integrator), Indirect Tax Edge, OneSource FBT and Oracle would be advantageous
