An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Project Manager to join our Capital Projects Team and lead the construction of a new Concrete Plant in Coolum, QLD. This role will bring deep infrastructure expertise to lead the end-to-end delivery of the project, including, closing out planning and approvals, engaging the market, and managing contractor performance against scope, safety, time, cost and quality. The role provides executive-strength leadership, alongside site supervision of subcontractors. This is a fixed term opportunity for 12 months and will be based at Coolum Plant. Achieve flexibility in this hybrid role based on the Sunshine Coast.
Your day will involve:
Project Management
- Apply Project Management principles and enable successful execution and delivery of the project to ultimately meet customer requirements and deliver the business benefits.
- Actively monitor and control all aspects of the project including monitoring and managing risk.
- Continuously look to improve project performance/results.
- Liaise with the Project Sponsor to ensure the business and project requirements are being met.
- Actively promote safe work practices and the adherence to relevant OH&S management systems, processes and behaviours.
- Manage scope to ensure delivery of the business case, actively watching for scope creep and/or descoping decisions that devalue project benefits.
- Monitor and update Project Schedule to reflect actual progress, taking corrective actions for any emerging schedule issues and monitoring outcomes.
- Monitor project costs and maintain standard cost management tools, taking corrective actions and monitoring outcomes for any cost issues.
Communication, Reporting and Governance
- Update Sponsor/Steering Committee and key stakeholders on project status on a regular basis.
- Develop and deliver accurate and succinct monthly project reporting
- Ensure project team compliance to Boral Capital Project Management Standard Operating Procedures.
- Participate in Project Health Checks and audits as required, including implementing and closing out any resulting actions plan.
People Leadership
- Lead and manage the project team to successfully deliver the project benefits and project delivery including managing any performance and identify project and champions team selection.
- Provide coaching, mentoring and organise training and development as required for Project Team, ensuring they are competent and qualified to deliver the project.
What are we looking for?
- Significant direct and deep technical project management experience, within heavy industry, for projects with budgets in excess of $1M, ideally specifically with Concrete Plant construction.
- Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Degree or similar.
- Advanced project scheduling skills with experience in Microsoft Project including schedule development and maintenance.
- Expertise in business case development and strong commercial skill in understanding, analysing and interpreting financial data through to managing budgets and forecasting capital costs.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management and influencing skills.
