Your Next Opportunity

The Rail and Intermodal Lead is responsible for oversight of all rail and Intermodal activities for Boral Cement which includes activity across numerous depots, production sites, suppliers and assets. Reporting to the Head of Logistics and Mobile Assets, you will be accountable for ensuring full compliance across Rail Safety, Rail Operations and Systems, Intermodal Operations and Systems, as well as in full and on time delivery to Boral’s customers. This role extends to managing a small team as well as interfacing with and reporting to the Rail Safety Regulator as well as being the key contact for multiple internal and external stakeholders across rail and intermodal operations.  

Your day will involve:

  • Frequent Boral’s operational sites and depots to ensure rail operations and planning is operationally-centric as well as DIFOT KPIs and customer satisfaction is in line with the business commitment towards a Customer centric approach
  • Visibly represent and influence Boral’s Zero Harm Today culture at every opportunity.
  • Manage day to day activities of Rail Supply chain and Intermodal Supply Chain of established supply legs and contract administration for achieving contractual KPIs.
  • Develop, integrate and maintain systems to enable effective operational management of Boral’s Rail and Intermodal Supply Chains, enabling suitable development and measurement of relevant performance indicators.
  • Develop new Intermodal supply chains as required by the business.
  • Develop, execute and manage contracts relevant to rail and Intermodal activities.
  • Oversee Boral’s Rail Safety Compliance and interface with Rail Safety Regulator in reporting and communications capacity, including reporting upon Drug and Alcohol test results, and incident escalation as required.
  • On-time billing and recoveries of missed tonnes as relevant for rail operations.

What are we looking for?

  • Tertiary qualified in an Engineering, Supply Chain and/or business discipline.
  • Potentially working towards a post-graduate qualification in business and/or Management.
  • Demonstrated experience in a supply chain role within an industrially diverse manufacturing environment, ideally with rail experience.
  • Ideally, demonstrated experience in a role with an intermodal focus.
