As the Batcher in Charge based at our Townsville Concrete Plant, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the day-to-day batching operations and ensuring the safe, efficient, and accurate production of quality concrete products. Acting as the central point of coordination for batching activities, you will manage concrete orders, maintain raw material inventory levels, monitor production performance, and support operational excellence across the site.

Working in a dynamic environment, you will take ownership of batching accuracy, product quality, safety compliance, and plant housekeeping, while operating plant equipment, including a front-end loader. Your ability to coordinate priorities, solve problems, and contribute as a key member of the team will be critical to the success of the operation.

We encourage applications from individuals with experience in concrete batching, front-end loader and forklift operation, stock control, and working within a safety-critical environment.

Your Day Will Involve: 

  • Leading and managing daily concrete batching activities to ensure customer orders are produced accurately and efficiently.
  • Accurately batching concrete to specified mix designs using dedicated batching programs and systems.
  • Operating a front-end loader safely to manage and weigh raw materials for production.
  • Maintaining control of raw material inventory, including stock monitoring, ordering requirements, reconciliations, and monthly forecasting.
  • Monitoring production performance and proactively identifying and resolving operational issues.
  • Coordinating daily plant priorities to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Promoting and participating in safety initiatives, including pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, risk assessments, and incident reporting.
  • Ensuring high standards of housekeeping, plant presentation, and routine maintenance activities.
  • Supporting broader plant operations and providing leadership by example in safety, quality, and customer service.

What Are We Looking For?

  • Previous experience in concrete batching or a similar production environment preferred.
  • Experience operating front-end loaders and/or forklifts.
  • Strong computer skills and confidence using multiple operational and safety systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to product quality and accuracy.
  • Sound organisational skills with the ability to manage stock control and production priorities.
  • A proactive approach to safety and continuous improvement.
  • Flexibility and willingness to support a variety of operational responsibilities across the plant.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
