We are seeking an experienced and motivated Laboratory Team Leader to lead our laboratory operations in Toowoomba, supporting our construction materials business through a strong focus on quality, safety, people leadership, and continuous improvement. Your Opportunity
Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of laboratory technicians, ensuring testing activities are completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with relevant Australian Standards and Boral quality requirements.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader who enjoys developing people, driving quality outcomes, and partnering with operational teams to support business performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of laboratory technicians.
- Ensure all testing activities are conducted safely and in compliance with Boral policies and procedures.
- Maintain quality systems and ensure compliance with relevant Australian Standards and NATA requirements where applicable.
- Provide technical support and advice to operational and commercial stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across laboratory processes and systems.
- Manage laboratory resources, equipment maintenance, and calibration schedules.
- Monitor testing results, investigate non-conformances, and implement corrective actions.
- Foster a positive team culture focused on safety, accountability, and customer service.
What We Are Looking For
- Previous experience in a laboratory leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials testing, quality systems, and relevant Australian Standards.
- Demonstrated people leadership and coaching capability.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in science, engineering, construction materials, or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
