Systems Analyst (Ext Leave)

Division: Boral Constr Mat Limited
Department: OVERHEAD CMC
Work type: Fixed term - full time
Location: Sydney

Your next opportunity

Do you love turning financial data into insights that people can act on? We are looking for a curious Systems Analyst/Developer to join our National Reporting Team in North Ryde on a 12 month Fixed Term contract. You will work at the point where finance meets technology, building the datasets and Tableau reporting that leaders across Boral rely on. This is a hands-on role with real influence over how we manage, standardise and use our data. You will join a team that asks good questions, backs continuous improvement and enjoys finding new ways to use operational data, financial modelling and prediction. You will report to the Finance Reporting Manager and work with finance and technology partners across the business.

Your day will involve

  • Building and maintaining datasets in our data warehouse using SQL and BigQuery, so our reporting is accurate, consistent and auditable
  • Developing and managing Tableau Server reporting, including the processes that extract, transform and load data into Tableau
  • Gathering requirements from finance stakeholders and turning them into standard datasets and reporting solutions
  • Providing ad hoc analysis and reporting, and advising end users on how to get the most from our data
  • Maintaining the security model across our reporting solutions and keeping standard operating procedures up to date
  • Championing good practice by standardising reports, retiring non-standard processes and improving master data such as the Chart of Accounts

What we are looking for

  • At least four years’ experience as a software engineer with a genuine interest in finance and data-driven insights
  • Strong SQL skills, with BigQuery experience highly regarded
  • Proven experience developing Tableau reporting and managing Tableau Server
  • Solid experience with object-oriented design, coding, and automated testing and deployment, plus hands-on work with structured, semi-structured and unstructured data
  • A strong understanding of data modelling and the strengths and limits of different data structures
  • A bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, in technology, software engineering, accounting or financial management, along with strong communication skills and the confidence to say no to stakeholders when needed

What's on offer:

  • Attractive salary package reflective of your skills and experience
  • Ongoing mentoring and guidance from industry leaders and subject matter experts
  • Broaden your horizons through exposure to our integrated operations
  • We are Australian-owned and operated
