Are you a proven leader in high-hazard industries, with a passion for operational excellence and a strong safety-first ethos? We’re looking for a Production Manager to join our leadership team at Calor’s Canvey Island Terminal, the UK’s largest off-grid LPG delivery network.

This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the safe and reliable operation of our terminal, managing ship berthing, marine unloading/loading, and production processes that support our national energy supply. The role leads a team of 6 Shift Team Leaders, 12 Operators, and 1 Permit to Work Lead, ensuring strong performance, compliance, and continuous development across a 24/7 operation.

Due to the nature of the role and emergency call-out responsibilities, the successful candidate must live within a 60-minute commute of the Canvey Island site.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead and develop a high-performing production team across a 24/7 COMAH terminal operation.
  • Ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient import, storage, and distribution of LPG.
  • Oversee ship berthing, marine operations, tanker loading, and process optimisation.
  • Work closely with the Maintenance and Engineering teams to minimise downtime and ensure operational continuity.
  • Act as a leader in emergency response situations and be part of the on-call duty rota.
  • Drive operational excellence through continuous improvement, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Oversee daily permits to work and ensure procedures, policies, and HSE standards are upheld.
  • Support strategic planning and long-term development of the site as part of the Terminal Leadership Team.
  • Maintain accurate and timely reporting, performance reviews, and budget management.
  • Ensure all training and development plans are implemented and maintained.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a confident and capable leader with a strong background in high-hazard environments and a commitment to safety, performance, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will bring:

  • Proven leadership experience in high-hazard or COMAH site operations.
  • Experience or an understanding of marine operations, including ship berthing, unloading, and the use of loading arms.
  • A deep understanding of health and safety procedures, risk control, emergency response, and a “safety-first” mindset. Familiarity with Risk Assessment, COSHH, Work Instructions, and safe working practices.
  • Strong working knowledge of Safe Systems of Work, isolation procedures, Permit to Work systems, and incident investigation.
  • Experience with DCS and CMMS systems, and the ability to manage daily operations through structured planning and effective use of digital tools.
  • Practical knowledge of HR processes, team development, and operational training.
  • Proven ability to manage production planning, resource allocation, and budgets in a dynamic, 24/7 operation.
  • Flexibility to support the needs of the business, including on-call duties and emergency attendance when required.
  • Full UK Driving License

Desirable

  • A HNC/D in engineering or a relevant discipline, a degree in Engineering
  • A IOSH/NEBOSH qualification

What You’ll Get

  • Competitive salary
  • Company and performance related bonus scheme
  • Single Private medical insurance
  • 25 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Retailor discounts and many, many more!
  •  The opportunity to make a significant impact in a critical national infrastructure setting
  • A values-led culture that prioritises safety, development, and innovation
  • Career development within a leading energy organisation
