Provide high quality primary opinion veterinary services in-clinic and in-field to a wide variety of large animal species at individual and herd level, while making a valuable contribution to veterinary education. The Roseworthy Veterinary Hospital is situated on the University’s picturesque Roseworthy Campus, approximately 9km from the township of Gawler and on the doorstep of the worldrenowned Barossa Valley wine region.

With the local schools, restaurants, and amenities of Gawler, a relaxed lifestyle and affordable housing, but only an hour from the CBD of Adelaide, the location offers the best of both worlds. Working in a well-equipped University teaching clinic you will have access to a range of modern equipment and fully equipped vehicles for off site visits. You will provide a range of high-quality veterinary services to hobby farms and ‘pet’ livestock owners of all large animal species, and the horse owning community. In addition, you may be required to assist in the case management of hospitalised patients in the clinic’s state of the art hospital and ICU facilities under the guidance of specialists. You will also contribute to clinical teaching and supervision of final-year students by involving them in clinical case management, providing additional learning opportunities where appropriate and demonstrating the highest standard of clinical and professional behaviour.

The work will suit an experienced, enthusiastic, team-oriented veterinarian with a passion for large animal medicine and experience delivering primary opinion services at individual and herd level for goats, sheep, pigs, poultry, alpacas, and horses. Supported by a team of experienced animal technicians and nurses and working as part of a clinical team along with support from a group of experienced academics, specialists and pathologists, this is an opportunity to deliver high quality veterinary services to the community while also making an important contribution to the clinical education of the next generation of veterinarians.

This role will require participation in an afterhours on-call roster including nights, weekends, and public holidays. On-call and call-in rates apply in accordance with University of Adelaide Enterprise Agreement. Assistance for travel to Adelaide and short-term accommodation available for the right

To be successful you will need:

  • Proven veterinary experience in mixed large animal practice (Equine and Farm/Production Animal).
  • Demonstrated high level of professionalism including outstanding interpersonal skills to work effectively with a diverse range of clients and as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm and proven experience in assisting and supporting teaching activities and mentoring others.
  • Demonstrated high level written communication skills, attention to detail and ability to maintain timely, accurate medical records. Enjoy an outstanding career
