This is a fantastic opportunity be part of the Defence Trailblazer Concept to Sovereign Capability Program - a collaborative partnership between the us and UNSW.
An exciting opportunity exists for a collaborative, well-rounded Senior Management Project Accountant to join the Defence Trailblazer project on a full time, 24-month, fixed term basis. Liaising with various stakeholders, The Senior Finance Project Accountant will work within the broader Finance and Accounting Services team within the Division of University Operations.
Reporting to the Manager Financial & Research Accounting and working under broad direction, The Senior Finance Project Accountant is responsible for delivering high-quality management and research accounting, financial performance reporting, multiyear financial modelling, budget & forecast planning and the implementation of financial processes and systems to support the effective operation of the Defence Trailblazer Universities Program.
To be successful you will need:
- Extensive experience providing subject matter financial expertise to inform financial decision making by stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and managing finances within a large complex organisation with diverse business areas, including undertaking detailed accounting and financial analysis to prepare reports, using data from a variety of information sources.
- Extensive experience in planning and conducting complex and specialist financial modelling and analysis and in managing high level projects or investigations that supports the delivery of sound accounting solutions.
- Demonstrated up to date knowledge of current financial legislation, regulations and accrual accounting principles, standards, policies, guiding reference documents and practices.
- Demonstrated experience communicating, both verbally and in writing, in a succinct, professional, and responsive manner to deliver results to key stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in managing multiple high-level functions with competing priorities and deadlines, and applying expert problem-solving skills to the management of complex strategic or operational problems or issues.
Qualifications:
- Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or
- An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- CPA or CA qualified or working towards.
Knowledge and experience in the higher education, Defence and/or defence industry sectors is desirable.
