We’re growing our cloud capability - and we need someone who doesn’t just understand the cloud but knows how to lead and inspire the people who make it work. This is your chance to step into a high-impact role, shaping the engineering standards, tools and practices that drive the backbone of WorkCover’s digital transformation.
As our Cloud Engineering Lead, you won’t just oversee infrastructure - you’ll be building a culture of excellence, ownership, and innovation across our cloud platforms.
You’ll contribute to:
- Leading cloud engineering across the business — setting the standard and supporting engineers to meet it
- Make sure our cloud platforms are secure, scalable, and aligned to architectural targets
- Drive the move from legacy systems to modern, efficient, cloud-native solutions
- Embed automation, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices to lift speed and reliability
- Champion a security-first mindset, making sure we build and run with resilience
- Mentor and coach cloud engineers, creating a team that’s as technically sharp as it is collaborative
A bit about you:
You’re a seasoned cloud engineering professional with over six years of experience, particularly with AWS, though you're also comfortable with Azure. You bring a strong technical foundation and a clear vision for how cloud platforms should be built and maintained. You’re not just technically skilled - you’re a natural leader who supports, challenges and uplifts your team.
You know how to break down complex cloud concepts for stakeholders and help them see the bigger picture. While you're comfortable rolling up your sleeves, you're just as focused on building scalable practices that teams can rely on. You believe that the best outcomes come from collaboration, not silos, and you’re always looking for ways to improve systems, processes, and people.
You have a strong grasp of DevOps principles and a practical understanding of automation, configuration management, and CI/CD pipelines. Security is second nature to you - you design with resilience and risk in mind, ensuring compliance without compromising agility. You're also curious by nature, staying across emerging tools and technologies that can add real value.
You understand that the success of cloud engineering isn’t just technical - it’s relational. You know how to engage with and build strong, productive relationships with your peers across Digital & Technology, because that’s how we truly meet the needs of our customers. Whether you're mentoring a junior engineer or collaborating with architecture and operations, you bring energy, clarity, and a genuine desire to get things done better.
