How can you make a difference?
The WASH Officer reports to the Chief of Field Office (Mandalay) who is at level 3 for supervision. The WASH Officer provides technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the WASH programming process. The Officer prepares, manages and implements a variety of technical and administrative tasks, related to the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the WASH output results of the country programme.

Minimum requirements:
Education: A university degree in one of the following fields is required: public health, social sciences, behavior change communication, civil and/or sanitary engineering or another relevant technical field.
Work Experience:
DEVELOPMENTAL: A minimum of two years of professional work experience in WASH-related programmes for developing countries is required.
Skills:
Technical Skills
- Planning, implementing, and monitoring WASH projects, including budgeting and resource allocation
- Rural and urban water supply system design and operation including solar powered water systems, gravity-fed schemes, and pipe networks
- Skills in design and implementation of community-led total sanitation (CLTS) approach, including knowledge of sanitation technologies, sanitation marketing and development of behaviour change communication strategies.
- Planning and implementation of emergency/ humanitarian WASH preparedness and response, including setting up temporary WASH facilities in displacement and crisis settings
- Planning and implementation of WASH in Institutions, including design of gender sensitive and inclusive WASH infrastructure and Infection prevention and control (IPC)
- Analytical skills, including the ability to gather, analyze, and interpret data related to WASH needs and program impact
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and database management.
Operational and Administrative Skills
- Grant and project management, including budgeting, financial utilization, and project monitoring
- Supply planning and delivery, including technical specifications, verifications and distribution monitoring
Soft skills
- Teamwork and collaboration with multicultural teams and building strong partnerships
Excellent written and verbal communication, including reporting, briefing, and community engagement
Language Requirements: Fluency in English and Myanmar is required.
Desirables:
- An advanced university degree is strongly preferable.
- Additional relevant post-graduate courses that complement/supplement the main degree are a strong asset.
- Relevant experience at the country level, particularly in development, fragile settings, and humanitarian contexts.
- Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
