Your new role at NewDay
The Senior Platform Engineer is responsible for working with the Data Platform to design, build and manage the next generation of automated software deployment solutions and data environments in AWS and third-party Cloud services. They will use best-practice continuous integration and continuous deployment methodologies to ensure that the build and deployment pipelines are fast, robust and secure. They will champion good code quality and secure DevOps practices, with fully automated deployment across multiple clients.
0-12 months you'll deliver
- Design, build and deployment of secure infrastructure using a repeatable methodology ensuring processes are automated and observable - IaC (Terraform, Crossplane, ArgoCD, NewRelic)
- Owning the network connectivity between AWS VPC accounts and enterprise network and infrastructure, including AWS firewall rules and configuration
- Delivering computational environments that meet the needs of the developers and multiple user personas
- Working with streaming data ecosystem such as Kafka
- Owning and supporting user facing query product deployment and support (such as the Snowflake, Astronomer (Airflow), Jupyterhub, and Tableau)
- Working with AWS Security engineers to put security review at the heart of all deployments
- Ensuring code quality and perform code reviews
What you'll bring
We need knowledge, experience & expertise in:
- Strong knowledge of computer networks including AWS, corporate networks (Firewalls, Proxies) and VPCs
- AWS networks (VPC, VPN, Direct Connect, Route 53, Auto scaling, CloudWatch, GuardDuty, Network Firewall)
- Account management (IAM, AD integration)
- Strong knowledge of AWS infrastructure & services
- Strong experience with CI/CD
- Excellent Linux scripting skills
- Experienced Terraform developer or solid understanding of IaC
- Good knowledge of virtualisation/containerisation
- Strong EKS/Kubernetes experience
- Working knowledge of streaming platforms (Kafka, Confluent)
- Working knowledge of MPP database systems (Snowflake)
And we would love you to know or learn:
- Python functional development experience
- User tooling infrastructure support (Airflow, Jupyterhub, Tableau)
- Installation and configuration of ELK (Elastic, Fluentd, Kibana)
- Working experience of NewRelic and SumoLogic
- Working knowledge Airflow or Astronomer
- Working knowledge PowerBI and Azure
- Working knowledge of Sagemaker or alternate MLOps solutions/platforms
