In this role you must have a desire to deliver high quality output within challenging timeline. The ability to hit the deck running and make valuable contributions quickly will be critical.

0-12 months you’ll deliver

  • As a Lead Solution Data Modeler, you'll be an integral member of the Data Platforms Architecture Team and will be responsible for the design and implementation of the enterprise data strategy, ensuring the strategy supports the current and future business needs.

  • The role will involve collaborating with Business and enterprise solution architects and contribute towards the overall program architecture and end to end solution.

What you’ll bring

  • Work closely with key business partners to understand and document the flow of data within our business
  • Create and owning a roadmap for the implementation of your data strategy
  • Attend and contribute to the technical design authority, reviewing and approving changes to our architecture where appropriate
  • Hold workshops with key business users to gain an understanding of current and future reporting requirements
  • Oversee the translation of business strategy into technical design documents
  • Build data models and process flow diagrams
  • Create stories in the backlog for the engineering & development teams
  • Create data mapping and definition documentation down to attribute level
  • Work with Project Coordinator to plan project estimation and project roadmap
  • Take ownership of design activities and ensure the product developed meets the design specifications.
  • Work as a gatekeeper before the product is released to the Data Quality Community.
  • Present designs and data architecture artifacts to NewDay’s internal and external customers

We need knowledge, experience + expertise in:

  • Good understanding of Cloud-native data architectures in AWS or Azure.
  • Requirements gathering experience in an agile data environment
  • Experience of documenting requirements using agile tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Experience of querying data, data analysis and data profiling using SQL in standard database applications (e.g. Redshift AWS, SQL Server)
  • Extensive logical and physical data modelling in traditional database technologies
  • Experience of systems design techniques from redefining requirements to high level design and detailed design stage in both waterfall and agile development models
  • Experience of standard Data Modelling toolsets such as ERStudio or Erwin
  • Experience of relational database technologies (MS SQL Server, Redshift)
  • Experience of handling different file formats specially JSON and XML
  • Data Modelling using Data Vault 2.0
  • Able to work on multiple projects at the same time and prioritise the work as per business needs to ensure tactical and strategic goals of data platforms are delivered to business on agreed timescales

And would love you to know or learn:

  • Experience in a financial services specially Credit Cards or regulated industry
  • Working on cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Snowflake)
  • Experience on Stream Data processing and tools like Confluent Kafka
  • Experience of design to handle similar data from various sources
  • Design experience on Data Vault, Data Lake and Mart technologies in Cloud
  • Experience using advanced SQL functions and query performance tuning
  • Experience of design within a data science environment (AWS S3/ Jupyter notebooks)
  • Experience of ETL technologies (e.g. AWS Glue, Informatica)
  • Experience of Data Catalogue tools (e.g. Collibra, Informatica)
  • Working experience on data analysis/discovery languages like R, Python
  • Educated to degree level, or higher
